We are thrilled to inform you that a Marton Year 6 child has received the Lancashire Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award.

Earlier this year, he was invited to attend a number of special selection day events aimed at identifying children who show exceptional skills and talents in a variety of sports. Children who are successful are then fast tracked into specialist training centres to coach and prepare them for possible selection for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic and Paralympic teams.

Being recognised for outstanding achievements in one field of sport is a great accomplishment. However, he has been recognised not for one but for three areas of sporting achievement and has been fast tracked into regional development squads for three sports swimming, athletics and football!

I am sure you will all join me in offering congratulations to our Year 6 boy for this magnificent achievement.

I feel so very proud of him and look forward to hearing of all his future sporting successes.
